Patterns in the 6 times table
When you multiply 6 by an even number, the result ends in the same digit as that number: 6 × 4 = 24, 6 × 8 = 48, 6 × 12 = 72.

The trick that works
For the 6 times table, use "5 times + 1 time": 6 × N = (5 × N) + N. For 6 × 7: 5 × 7 = 35, plus 7 = 42. Another trick: double the 3 times table. 6 × 8 = 2 × (3 × 8) = 2 × 24 = 48.
What you already know
Because 6 × 5 = 5 × 6, the order does not change the result. If you already know the 1 to 5 times tables, you already know 5 results of the 6 times table (6 × 1 to 6 × 5). Only 7 new results remain to learn: 6 × 6 = 36, 6 × 7 = 42, 6 × 8 = 48, 6 × 9 = 54, 6 × 10 = 60, 6 × 11 = 66, 6 × 12 = 72.
