Frequently asked questions

What age does Grade 1 start?
In the French system, CP (Grade 1) starts at age 6. Children born between January and December of the same year are in the same class. In US/UK systems, Grade 1 typically starts at 6 too (with cutoff dates varying by district).
My child was born in December, are they behind?
No. In France and most European countries, children born in any month of the same year are in the same class. A December-born child will be the youngest with ~11 months less than January-born peers — that's normal.
How do I know my child is ready for Grade 1?
End-of-Kindergarten goals are: recognize alphabet letters, write their name, count to 30, understand before/after and more/less. If your child masters these, they're ready. Otherwise, target these areas with our K-level tools.
What if my child struggles at their level?
First, isolate the struggling skill (reading, writing, math). Then revisit previous-level worksheets to consolidate before moving on. 10-15 minutes/day of targeted practice often works. If the block persists for months, consult the teacher or a specialist.
Is my child advanced?
If your child consistently masters next-grade content, they may be advanced. But academic precocity isn't a competition — what matters is offering stimulating challenges at their REAL level, not necessarily skipping a grade (often emotionally counterproductive).
