Tips for using this worksheet
Say it aloud before you write it
Ask your child to say the sentence and stress the word the exercise is about. For gender (le/la, un/une) it helps to learn every noun with its article: "la table" rather than "table" on its own.
One colour per part of speech
Mark nouns, verbs and adjectives in three colours, first in a short text from a picture book, then on the worksheet. The colour shows the word class before your child can name it.
Hunt for the mistake together
Write a sentence with an agreement error ("les petite filles") and ask your child to find it and explain it. A child who can explain a rule has understood it, not just memorised it.
What next?
Stay on one topic until it holds before choosing the next. One or two exercise types a week are plenty: the worksheets add to what is taught at school, they do not replace it. If your child knows very little French, start with the parts of speech and leave sentence analysis for later.
