Dot-to-Dot 1 to 50 — Printable Worksheets (Grade 1, Grade 2)

Fifty dots is a real focus session: the child counts through the whole sequence from 1 to 50, including the places where the tens change (29 to 30, 39 to 40) that trip up so many learners. The pictures are more detailed than on the 1 to 20 sheets — star, house, fish, butterfly, rocket, cat, apple, car, sailboat or heart — and take shape gradually as the dots are joined. To fit fifty markers on one A4 page, the dots and numerals are smaller, and each number is placed away from the neighbouring dots. The PDF is generated in your browser, with the child's name if you like.

Why use this worksheet?

The sequence up to 50

Twenty-one, thirty-one, forty-three: the sheet walks through every ten and shows how the pattern of the numbers repeats from one ten to the next.

A patience exercise

Fifty dots ask for sustained attention. A child can stop halfway: mark the last joined dot with a pencil and pick up again later.

10 designs to choose from

Ten pictures, all redrawn for 50 dots, with more detail than the shorter sheets.

Answer sheet option

A version with the lines drawn helps you check the result, or helps a stuck child find the way.

Frequently asked questions

What age is a 1 to 50 dot-to-dot for?

Roughly ages 6-8, Grade 1 into Grade 2, when a child counts and reads numbers to 50 with ease. Before that, 1 to 12 or 1 to 20 sheets fit better: finishing a shorter sheet is worth more than giving up on a long one.

My child always stops at 29 or 39. Why?

Moving from one ten to the next is a common stumbling block: after 29 the child has to remember that the tens change (30) and the ones start again from zero. Practise the sequence aloud with a clap on every ten, then restart the sheet from the dot where they got stuck.

How long should I allow?

It depends on the child; plan on a proper session rather than a few minutes. It is perfectly fine to do the first half one day and the second half the next, keeping the sheet in between.

How is this different from counting by 5s?

On the 1 to 50 sheet every dot is the next number (1, 2, 3…). In counting by 5s (5, 10, 15… 50), available in the same tool, numbers are skipped, which prepares for the 5 times table and multiplication.

Can I customize this worksheet with a different theme?

Yes. Beyond the educational content, you can choose from 10 themes (space, ocean, unicorn, superhero…) that change the color palette of the worksheet to make it more appealing to your child.
