What you can make
Flashcards
One big word per card, 8 cards per page, with cutting lines. For quick rounds and games.
Tracing
The word, one to three light copies to trace, then a line to write it alone. Add the child's name.
Missing letters
Each word with one or two letters hidden. The child fills the gap, then writes the whole word.
Word search
A 12 x 12 grid with up to 10 of your words, going right, down or diagonally (never backwards).
Bingo
4, 8 or 12 different cards in 3 x 3, 4 x 4 or 5 x 5, plus a caller sheet to tick off the words.
Checklist
Three tick boxes per word, one for each test date, to see which words are really known.
Word list
A clean list with a tick box next to each word, for the fridge or the school bag.
Three ways to use it
Practise only what is hard
Choose the list, tick "Only the tricky words", and make flashcards. A child who finds "said", "was" and "because" difficult gets a short stack of just those.
Skip what is already known
Test with the checklist, then paste the words your child read at once into "already knows". The next sheet contains only the words still to learn.
Use the school's list
The teacher sends a weekly list? Choose no Dolch list, type the words in "your own words", and make tracing sheets, a word search and bingo from them.

Frequently asked questions
+Is the generator free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit. The PDF is made in your browser and is not sent to any server.
+Can I use words that are not on the Dolch lists?
Yes. Type or paste them in "Add your own words" (letters, apostrophes and hyphens, up to 16 characters each). You can mix them with a Dolch list or use only your own.
+How do I make a sheet for a 7-year-old?
Most 7-year-olds work on the Grade 1 or Grade 2 list. Select the list, make a checklist first, then flashcards or tracing for the words that were missed.
+Why does my word search have fewer words than I chose?
The grid holds up to 10 words of 2 to 12 letters. If you selected more, 10 are picked at random: press "Shuffle" (random order) and download again for a different set.
+Why can't I make a bingo game?
Each card needs enough different words: 8 for a 3 x 3 grid, 16 for 4 x 4 and 24 for 5 x 5. Add more words or choose a smaller grid.
